Age before beauty? Perhaps it's age before birdies at The Players Championship for Wisconsin's own Steve Stricker.

The native of Edgerton, Wis., who is 51 years old, is in contention after two days of the PGA Championship.

He finished his second round at eight under par after shooting a 69 in his second round. When he finished, at approximately 12:20 p.m., he was in a tie for fourth with Jason Day, two shots off the lead.

Stricker nailed three birdies between holes 13 and 16 of his round, with a bogey on 15.

He has never won a major grand slam golf tournament or The Players Championship, considered to be the unofficial fifth major in American men's golf.
