Report: Packers, Rodgers close on new deal, should get done this summer

The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers, according to a report, should have a new contract extension signed by the time he plays in his next game in Green Bay.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport says that the two sides are about $2 million per year apart on a deal, but Packers executive vice president and director of football operations Russ Ball and Rodgers' agent, David Dunn, have been regularly negotiating.

Rapoport says the deal should make Rodgers the highest-paid player in football.

They're reportedly working out details involving how much to pay him on the remaining two years of his current deal. He is set to make $19.75 million between 2018 and 2019.
