A quarterbacks coach with years of experience working for Mike McCarthy will apparently be Green Bay's next tutor of their quarterbacks.
Frank Cignetti, the QB coach of the New York Giants in 2016 and 2017, is about to play the same role in Green Bay, as first reported by TODAY'S TMJ4's Lance Allan and updated by Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Cignetti has numerous stints working with McCarthy:
- 1989 at the University of Pittsburgh as a graduate assistant when McCarthy was a quarterbacks coach
- 1999 as a quality control assistant in Kansas City when McCarthy was the quarterbacks coach
- 2000-01 as a quarterbacks coach in New Orleans when McCarthy was the offensive coordinator
Cignetti has worked with five NFL franchises - his time in Kansas City and New Orleans along with one year as a 49ers quarterbacks coach and four years in St. Louis, when he was the Rams' quarterbacks coach from 2012-14 and the Rams' offensive coordinator in 2015.
He worked with former Packers assistant Ben McAdoo in his two years with the Giants.
He and McCarthy have even more similarities, as they both were born in Pittsburgh and are just two years apart in age.
