Report: Packers ask Chargers for permission to interview Gus Bradley for defensive coordinator job

Could a former Jaguars head coach be the man to head up Mike McCarthy's defense?

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Green Bay Packers have asked his current employer, the Los Angeles Chargers, permission to interview Gus Bradley for the same job he has in L.A.

Schefter says that Bradley's contract has already expired with Los Angeles, meaning he is a "free agent," and that Seattle is in pursuit as well.

Bradley used to be the Seahawks' defensive coordinator for four years (2009-12), and they finished 1st in points allowed in 2012 and 7th in that category in 2011.

Last year, the Chargers' defense finished third in points allowed and sixth in takeaways.

He was also the Jaguars head coach from 2013-16.
