Report: Brewers re-sign Jimmy Nelson, avoiding arbitration

A report says that Brewers starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson, a valuable piece of their 2017 run to the edge of the playoffs, will avoid arbitration with the team.

Adam McCalvy of says that the Brewers and Nelson agreed to a $3.7 million deal for 2018.

Nelson finished with a 12-6 record and a 3.49 ERA in an injury-shortened campaign. He went 5-1 in his final nine starts of 2018.

It is believed he will miss part of 2018 after a labrum tear.
