Questions still remain regarding Clay Mathews’ roughing the passer penalty.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy says he recognizes that the league is “emphasizing player safety.”
“But human nature,” he tells WTMJ. “And I think officiating teams have a moment of this, where they may be overemphasizing it a bit too much and you’re creating another issue.”
“We have four roughing the quarterback penalties in two games. That’s a huge change in behavior. And anyone who evaluates from an analytical platform understands that you have to take a hard look at that rule.”
