A report out of Middleton, Wis. says that multiple people have been shot inside an office building in that city just outside Madison.

University of Wisconsin Hospital tells WKOW-TV that at least four people have been injured from the shooting. Madison.com says that as of 12:10 p.m., all the victims have survived. WKOW says that the shooter has been taken into custody. According to Madison.com, the suspect has been critically injured.

NBC15's Tim Elliot said just before 11 a.m. that, according to a source which he says is an employee in the Paradigm building which houses Esker Software, that someone who works in that building opened fire and shot multiple people, and that the shooter is "down."

WISC-TV's Jessica Arp reported three ambulances heading out of the area to area hospitals.

There was no initial word on whether any suspects are in custody.

Madison.com says that 911 communications in the area received a call at about 10:30 a.m. about the active shooter. They also described a woman leaving the office complex "screaming, saying it was 'a devastating loss.' "

A TrafficCast employee told Madison.com that he saw a man carrying a handgun inside the building, but did not see any shooting.

Three schools and numerous retail stores nearby were placed on lockdown as police snipers were been set up, according to WISC-TV. WKOW-TV says that at least one school has had its lockdown lifted.

A reporter for that station says the FBI is on scene among dozens of law enforcement on scene. WKOW-TV says that a police dog has also been brought to the scene.

Everyone is being asked to head inside and keep buildings locked if they are in the multi-block police staging area. Hundreds of people have been evacuated from the scene as well, according to WISC-TV.
