First on WTMJ: Nicholson criticizes Vukmir saying Sen. Baldwin is on 'Team Terrorists'

The words of GOP Senate candidate Leah Vukmir about the Democratic incumbent, calling Senator Tammy Baldwin part of "Team Terrorists," are coming under fire by Vukmir's competitor in the GOP primary race.

"It's a fundamentally unserious critique of the's embarrassing," said Kevin Nicholson on WTMJ's Steve Scaffidi Show.

"I don't. I fought terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan. I know what a terrorist is. I've seen them. It is not a word I use lightly. Nobody should use that word lightly."

Nicholson has recently taken heat himself for comments he made on the Scaffidi show about veterans choosing to vote Democratic.

Vukmir tweeted a summary of her statement with a photo labeling Baldwin as part of "Team Terrorists", being critical of Baldwin regarding the Gina Haspel confirmation hearings.

The full news release continues on Vukmir's website, stating that Gina Haspel has proven she will protect the US:

"After Sen. Baldwin’s outrageous support of the Iran deal, it’s no surprise that she would rather give the man behind the 9/11 attacks and other terrorists hugs and safe spaces than take adequate action to protect America and confirm Gina Haspel quickly. This is a dangerous time for America, and our CIA director should be willing to do what it takes to protect our nation, our citizens and our freedoms. Gina Haspel has proven she will do that, and  Baldwin’s silence on her nomination is just another signal that she’d rather bow to our enemies than tell terrorists we’ll do what’s necessary to ensure Americans are kept safe."

According to The Hill, Haspel is a controversial nominee because she used to work at a CIA black site that used enhanced interrogation techniques, which some have described as torture.

Nicholson says his criticism of Baldwin involve her ideas about federal government.

"We've got to be adults to beat Tammy Baldwin. I will say I will question the thought processes of people who support her, and I will put out better ideas," he said.

"Calling Baldwin a part of Team Terrorists is also not a serious approach to national defense," Nicholson added.

"I have lost friends. I have lost family in these battlefields. I get what this is about."
