St. Alphonsus School in Greendale evacuated after suspicious package

A school in Greendale has been evacuated due to a package initially thought to be suspicious.

Staff at St. Alphonsus School on West Loomis Road in Greendale were evacuated Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee says that the package was discovered in an area that was not normal for package delivery. Authorities could not initially bring a bomb-sniffing dog to the school to check out the package, so the school held an evacuation.

Authorities checked on the package's contents and found nothing dangerous, only lime green paper.

Students were taken to Greendale High School, but were eventually sent home.
