LOS ANGELES - A Milwaukee-area man is reportedly being held by authorities in California after he traveled there to act on disturbing online threats against singer Miley Cyrus.
Milwaukee Police contacted both police and sheriff's deputies in Los Angeles after someone notified them about concerning social media posts, a department spokesperson told TODAY'S TMJ4. MPD notified those local authorities the man may be in Los Angeles.
The man's Facebook page shows he posted about a "horrific act" that would be on the news. He also made mention to "getting rid of Liam," apparently a reference to Cyrus' boyfriend, actor Liam Hemsworth.
"I got your address like you insisted," one of the posts reads.
Celebrity news website TMZ.com reports the man was located on Monday and taken into custody for psychological evaluation. MPD added that the "incident is believed to be mental health related."
It's unclear if Cyrus was aware of the posts, TMZ says.
