MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police pulled over a car that was driving recklessly Sunday night. They discovered the driver was not only intoxicated -- but was also was 15 years old and had an infant in the car.
Police conducted a field sobriety test that the driver promptly failed. Inside the car, police say they found bottles of beer and rum. The driver was taken to the hospital for a blood draw and was then turned over to his parents in accordance with Racine County Human Services.
Also during the test, police found an infant in the vehicle with her mother who was also intoxicated. The mother -- who was 18-year-old -- was taken into custody for outstanding warrants and a charge of child neglect.
The child was turned over to her grandparents with the approval of Human Services.
Another passenger was also highly intoxicated and vomiting, She was released to her parents and cited for underage drinking.
