The Jewish Community Center in Whitefish Bay has been evacuated due to what Whitefish Bay Police described was a bomb threat.

A police spokesperson said that a bomb threat was phoned in to the JCC, located on Santa Monica Boulevard in Whitefish Bay.

The Jewish Day School was part of the evacuated area. Richards School and Cardinal Stritch University assisted with giving kids a place to stay during the evacuation.

Canine dogs from the Department of Homeland Security, Milwaukee Police and the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office were part of the search of the area.

The spokesperson said there were numerous Jewish centers that have had such threats nationwide.

As of about 4 p.m., the center was re-opened.
