Hundreds of veterans from the Vietnam and Korean Wars and World War II head from Mitchell International Airport to Washington, D.C. every year to not only experience their monuments. Through the Honor Flight program, they also experience friendship and connection with those who share what they struggled through, as well as the gratitude they may not have receive when they came home.
Stars and Stripes Honor Flight is a team effort, but Paula Nelson heads that team. She talks about the effort that charity does. You can listen in the player above.
WTMJ and Stars and Stripes Honor Flight are helping to honor those who served our country through the experience of sending Vietnam veterans and other vets from Southeastern Wisconsin to their monuments in Washington, D.C. They're holding a major event with the Milwaukee Bucks to help the cause.
