Perhaps we shouldn't expect Tiger Woods to tee it up at Erin Hills at the U.S. Open.
The Golf Channel reports that Woods has back surgery to "alleviate ongoing pain in his back and leg," with the remainder of his 2017 season "placed in question. This is his fourth back surgery.
A release cited by the report says that he will rest "for weeks before more therapy and treatments."
The U.S. Open happens in Washington County, starting eight weeks from today. According to the Golf Channel, "patients from similar surgeries are expected to 'return to full activity in about six months.' "
