The Green Bay Packers will have their top cornerback out of action for two months after already missing a month with a concussion.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein reports that Sam Shields' message on Instagram, listed below, is "an indication the Green Bay Packers are placing him on injured reserve."
The Packers confirmed that Shields would go on injured reserve minutes after Silverstein's report. They did not initially confirm that he could return, but it's believed he could be the one player allowed to go on IR that can return this season.
Shields said he would be missing the team's next eight games.
The Packers have the option to bring Shields back after that minimum amount of time. He would be eligible for the Dec. 18 game at Chicago.
Shields suffered a concussion in the Week 1 game at Jacksonville and has not played since.
The full Packers injury report is as follows for Tuesday, besides Shields:
