Two prominent Milwaukee Brewers are investing in downtown Milwaukee. Literally.
The Avenue and 3rd Street Market Hall have jointly announced that National League MVP Christian Yelich and former NL MVP Ryan Braun are joining their investment group.
The projects are meant to revitalize and re-purpose the former Shops of Grand Avenue property on West Wisconsin Avenue. Plans include a high-level food hall, office space including GRAEF's new corporate headquarters, apartment and retail.
Omar Surg, a partner with Braun in former Brookfield restaurant 8-Twelve MVP Bar & Grill, is a major piece of the 3rd Street Market Hall project.
“I’ve quickly grown to love Milwaukee in my time here and want to help show others its greatness and make its neighborhoods as successful as possible," said Yelich in a statement.
“I consider Milwaukee my second home,” said Braun in the same statement. “This investment is not only good business, but it’s an opportunity to play a role in the transformation of this part of Milwaukee that will attract more people to the city and help it thrive.”
