Longtime WTMJ anchor Frank Richardson passes away

His voice was an institution in Milwaukee radio in the 1980's. Complications from cancer have silenced that voice.

Frank Richardson, the news anchor for Gordon Hinckley and so many other shows on WTMJ from the late 1970's until the early 1990's, has passed away after complications following cancer surgery.

"Frank sounded like a talking bear. He had the deepest, richest voice ever," said Gene Mueller on Wisconsin's Morning News Monday. Richardson took Mueller under his wing when they spent years together working across the hall from each other, Richardson at WTMJ, Gene on the "Reitman and Mueller" show on 94.5 WKTI.

"One of those guys who made me feel welcome," said Gene."Frank was always there to help."

Richardson grew up in Virginia before coming to WTMJ, working here at Radio City for the better part of two decades. He also served America in Vietnam.
