VIDEO - Changing Face of Milwaukee: Oak Creek

MILWAUKEE- Business is booming in Oak Creek.

The city, located about 15 miles south of Milwaukee and home to about 35,000 people is home to some of south-east Wisconsin’s most forward thinking developments.

In 2012 the city partnered with WisPark to develop the 840,000 square foot mixed use development that is known now as Drexel Town Square. The space includes a Meijer store, several local restaurants, and soon, over 600 apartment units.

“This is an exciting time to lead this city,” Oak Creek Mayor Steve Scaffidi says. “I always told people that Oak Creek is a cool place to live, and now we have something tangible to show that.”

Oak Creek isn’t the only community in south-east Wisconsin to see an explosion in development, but driving up I-94, it may be the most visible. WTMJ and the Milwaukee Business Journal have partnered up to take a deep dive into what makes these communities tick.
