Report: Several officers shot during current standoff in Philadelphia

Six officers have been shot and injured with another officer in an accident during a hostage-related standoff in Philadelphia, according to ABC Philadelphia.

As of 5:05 p.m. CT, all six officers were expected to survive their injuries.

The incident started at about 3:30 p.m. CT in a neighborhood near Temple University on the city's north side Wednesday afternoon. ABC Philadelphia said officers were attempting to serve a warrant at a home in the neighborhood when gunfire began.

Three rounds of gunfire were heard between 4:35 and 5:05 p.m. CT. A witness told a reporter the smell of gun powder reached a block away from the shooting scene.

FOX Philadelphia says a suspect may have hostages in the situation, but that report was unconfirmed. Several hundred police officers went in support of police that were already on scene.
