The Racine County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed two people have died while two others were injured from a semi-truck explosion. Both sides of I-41/94 have been closed in Mount Pleasant in Racine County.

The explosion happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday on the overpass at County Highway K.

Sheriff Chris Schmaling says drivers should avoid I-94 and its frontage roads at all costs. He expected full closures between Ryan Road and Highway 20 until sometime Wednesday evening. The sheriff says it's the worst accident he's been a part of during his 24 years.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation provided alternate route information.
