Ric Ocasek, lead singer and songwriter of The Cars, passed away at 75

Ric Ocasek, the man responsible for the songs of the rock band The Cars, passed away September 15, 2019.  He was 75.

Ocasek was found unresponsive inside a townhouse in New York City, according to NBC New York.

Ocasek was the songwriter, lead singer and rhythm guitar player for The Cars, which he helped to form in the late 70s.  The band would go on to have a series of hits over the next decade.  Some include "Drive", "Shake It Up", "You Might Think", "Magic", and "Tonight She Comes".

The Cars were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

After The Cars broke up, Ocasek went on to have a successful career as a music producer.
