The Packers could start the season without a key piece to their linebacking corps.
ESPN's Rob Demovksy says linebacker Oren Burks may have suffered a torn pectoral muscle during the team's first preseason game Thursday night against the Texans.
The second-year linebacker was expected to start next to Blake Martinez this season in the team's base 3-4 defense. If Burks misses time due to injury, which is expected, undrafted rookie Curtis Bolton or 7th round draft pick Ty Summers could take his place in the starting lineup.
Burks will go in for more medical tests this week. Head coach Matt LaFleur did not further speculate on the seriousness of Burks injury following practice Saturday morning.
