Boy hit and killed on his bicycle in Sheboygan identified, investigation continues

Police say Roman Martin was the 9-year-old boy who died from his injuries after being hit and killed Wednesday, Oct. 9.

A 9-year-old boy is dead after being hit and killed riding while riding his bicycle on his way to school Wednesday morning.

Police say the boy was hit by a city garbage truck around 10:30 a.m. near 14th and Center Ave. in Sheboygan. 

"Because it's a city vehicle that's involved in the accident, we've requested the State Patrol to come in and do the accident investigation and reconstruction," Sheboygan Police Chief Chris Domagalski said during a news conference. "It's going to have some deep effects and impacts on both the family and community as a whole."

Police say the driver of the truck is a 35-year-old man who has been working for the city for two years. Another 55-year-old man was at the rear of the truck.

The boy's identity is not yet being released. 

It's unclear if any charges will be filed.
