Man from Milwaukee fighting for his life after hit-and-run driver's car goes airborne, strikes him

Milwaukee Police say a 62-year-old man is fighting for his life after a hit-and-run driver's car flew off the road, then hit the man at a high rate of speed.

The crash happened near the corner of Fond du Lac Avenue and West Capitol Drive at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver, who is 20 and from Milwaukee, was speeding while going southeast on Fond du Lac Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, according to police. The car went airborne, hit a light pole and a bus shelter while also injuring the man.

The driver fled the scene, but police found and arrested him.

Rescue crews took the injured man from Milwaukee to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police ask you to find an alternate route if you are attempting to drive near that intersection, as they are investigating the crash scene.
