WTMJ Cares: Prostate Cancer Screening

WTMJ's Week of Hope

620 WTMJ is teaming up with Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Network to provide cancer awareness and resources.

Through this project, spearheaded by Jeff Wagner, we are encouraging people to talk with their doctors about cancer screenings that are right for them.

Did you know that one in seven men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer? But, when found early, it's one of the most treatable forms of cancer.

Starting at age 50, most men should talk to their doctors about this important screening. Have that talk sooner, at age 45, if you’re African-American or have a family history.

Froedtert offers prostate cancer screenings all year long. The screenings are free for eligible men, but you do need an appointment.

Each screening involves a blood test and digital rectal exam and takes about 15 minutes.

To make an appointment for a cancer screening or assessment during the WTMJ Cares “Week of Hope,” call 414-805-3666 and select option 2. Be sure to mention WTMJ and the Jeff Wagner show.
